Is tarmac cheaper than block paving?
Tarmac is often more cost-effective than block paving, particularly for larger areas, because it is quicker to lay. The final price for either depends on the size of the drive, the groundwork needed and any edging or drainage, so if you are undecided we can quote for both.
Can you lay tarmac over my existing driveway?
Sometimes. If the existing base is sound and the levels allow, resurfacing over it can be a good-value option. If the drive has sunk, cracked badly or does not drain, it is usually better to dig it out and start again with a new sub-base. We will tell you honestly which applies once we have seen it.
How soon can I use a new tarmac driveway?
We will advise you on the day, as it depends on the weather and the thickness laid. New tarmac stays slightly soft for a while, especially in hot weather, so for the first few weeks avoid turning your steering wheel while stationary and avoid concentrated loads such as skips, jacks or bike stands.
Do you lay tarmac for commercial properties?
Yes. Tarmac is widely used for car parks, forecourts, shared drives and access roads because it is hard-wearing and relatively quick to install, which keeps disruption to a minimum.
